Kampong Kata Hill Thai & Seafood Restaurant sits on a hillside above Kata Road. You reach the dining areas by climbing a long staircase through a small green garden, and at the top you’re rewarded with views over the neighborhood. In the evening it feels especially calm — slightly removed from the traffic noise and well suited to a relaxed dinner.
Inside, you’ll find spacious rooms filled with intricate Asian-inspired decor and a somewhat “maze-like” layout. Carved walls, layered textures, and plenty of tucked-away corners make it an easy place for photos. There’s one room with panoramic views and another without, though it’s decorated just as impressively. There’s no air-conditioning — only fans — so it may feel less comfortable for some guests.
The menu focuses on Thai cuisine and seafood, with a few international options mixed in. Typical choices include tom yum and tom kha soups; curries such as massaman and red curry; shrimp noodles, rice dishes, duck, lobster, dumplings, roti, salads, and desserts like a banana split. It’s best to specify your preferred spice level in advance, though even “not spicy” can still come with a noticeable kick. Portions are generally moderate, and soups are available in different sizes.
Service is polite and friendly, but delays can happen, orders may occasionally get mixed up, dishes might arrive at different times, and some items or drinks may be unavailable. A mandatory 10% service charge may be added to the bill, and prices tend to be higher than at restaurants further down the road.
