La Playa in Chalong is a new, spotless, and stylish cafe-restaurant with thoughtfully designed décor and comfortable seating. You can dine indoors or outside, and there’s convenient parking on site. The vibe is laid-back — people come here for a slow breakfast, brunch, or an unhurried dinner — though in the mornings the music can sometimes feel fairly upbeat, closer to a club-style playlist.
The menu is built around Thai–European fusion. You’ll find tom yum with a pronounced tang, chicken soup, several salmon dishes (including a grilled salmon steak), pasta options such as mushroom fusilli, as well as pizza, shakshuka, avocado toast, and a falafel bowl. If you’re after something lighter or “healthy,” there are açaí bowls, fruit bowls, and vegan choices. The drinks follow the same direction too — for example, the refreshing Aloe Radiance with a citrus note.
The coffee is generally very good: cappuccinos and lattes are rich and flavorful, although the cup sizes may feel on the smaller side. Some dishes are also quite modest in portion, so if you have a bigger appetite, it’s easier to order a couple of items.
Service is consistently strong: the staff are attentive and friendly, quick to help you choose and to check that you’re enjoying the food. A service charge may appear on the bill, so it’s worth confirming in advance. The alcohol selection is limited, with occasional promotions. Delivery is available and typically fast.
