New Karon Gym in Phuket’s Karon area is a compact but well‑equipped, old‑school style gym. It’s heavy on “iron”: plenty of free weights, barbells and dumbbells, racks, a Smith machine, and a range of single‑purpose machines targeting different muscle groups. It’s easy to put together a full strength session for legs, back, chest, shoulders, and core. A few of the more unusual “rare” machines add extra variety — though some of them take a bit of time to figure out.
Comfort-wise, the gym is kept cool with air conditioners and fans, and there’s a dedicated cardio area with treadmills and ellipticals. For functional training and small accessories, you’ll also find a punching bag, resistance bands, step platforms, and massage/myofascial balls. The locker room includes lockers, a shower, and a clean restroom; water from a cooler and towels are included.
The pricing is tourist-friendly: a single entry costs around 350 THB, multi-day passes are available (for example, roughly 900 THB for 3 days), as well as longer-term memberships. During the daytime it’s usually quiet, without feeling overcrowded.
A few things to note: some equipment looks a bit worn, and the “rare” machines aren’t always self-explanatory. There isn’t a particularly convenient setup for a classic glute bridge, and there are no phone holders. Staff are generally friendly, although their communication style can be fairly straightforward.
On top of that, there are apartments above the gym with gym access included, and motorbike rentals can also be arranged.
