Phuket Town, aka Phuket Old Town, is the main hipster-backpacker mecca of the island and a great opportunity to touch its history and just stroll around.
It is here that Phuket’s rare architectural and historical landmarks are accumulated, preserved and maintained.
It is an absolutely unique European-style district of the island that abounds with lots of graffiti and interesting cafes.
It is also home to museums and small art galleries.
This colorful place, which combines seemingly very different but perfectly matching buildings, definitely deserves your attention.
On weekends there is a night market.
Be sure to stop by Cafe MONDO for a cup of coffee and take beautiful shots from the third floor balcony.
Harry Potter fans will love the famous cream beer at Mad Hog Cafe.
Don’t forget to check out the busiest street, Soi Rommani, where you can often find street performers.
Take a walk to the famous clock tower. This building, as well as the neighboring one across the street, houses the Museum Phuket and is free to enter. Next door to the tower you can buy an unusual 3D ice cream in the shape of the museum itself.
Don’t miss the old tin baron’s mansion, which now houses the TIN BARON restaurant and the famous Blue Elephant, which is an entire colonial-style mansion.
