Red Mountain Golf Club in Phuket is a dramatic mountain course with steep elevation changes, set among jungle, lakes, and distinctive red-hued slopes. The design makes full use of the terrain: sweeping views appear on hole after hole, and the fairways stand out vividly against the rock and lush greenery.
It’s a demanding layout that rewards precision. Tight landing corridors, dense vegetation, and water hazards punish anything offline — lost balls are common, especially on the par 3s if you come up short. The yardage may not always look intimidating on paper, but scoring well is difficult without a reliable drive and disciplined placement into the right landing areas. The signature moment is the 17th, a par 3 played from an elevated tee, where you attack the green far below.
Caddies are mandatory. They help keep the pace moving, provide yardages, and assist with green reading, although English proficiency varies by individual. When operations run smoothly, an 18-hole round is typically quick — around 3.5 hours.
Facilities include a spacious clubhouse serving breakfast, a restaurant with a view, and a driving range where you can hit from natural grass. Pricing is closer to “Western” levels, and green conditions can be inconsistent at times: speed and surface quality may vary from hole to hole. Booking a tee time in advance is recommended; there’s a discount if you book together with Loch Palm. Phone and messaging communication isn’t always prompt.
