Skywalk Restaurant Phuket Airport Viewpoint sits right next to Phuket Airport and is built around one main attraction: watching planes take off and land. The tables are set so close to the taxiway and runway that aircraft roll past almost “within arm’s reach” — everything from AirAsia and VietJet to larger jets like the Boeing 777. A light breeze, the constant buzz of airport activity, and the occasional pilot waving back at guests all add to the experience.
It’s also a convenient stop before or after a flight. Getting there is easy, parking is plentiful, and you can drop in even if you’re carrying luggage. Evenings are especially enjoyable, while midday can be hot; by around 6 p.m., it often gets noticeably busier.
The menu is extensive: à la carte options include pad thai, fried rice, green papaya salad, and tuna or shrimp salads, along with fresh fruit, coconuts, and cold beer. A highlight is the BBQ/mookata buffet — 299 THB including drinks — with fresh shrimp, tender meats, chicken, and a particularly good dipping sauce. Smoothies are another standout (around 180 THB).
A few things to keep in mind: there’s a 100 THB per-person deposit/entry fee at the door, which is applied as a voucher toward your order; power lines may end up in your view; and the building itself looks a bit worn. The coffee is fairly basic in taste.
