Sumpao Restaurant is a beachfront venue at Bandara Pool Villas in Phuket, set in a quiet bay with lovely sea views. The space feels modern and well kept: it’s cosy and spotless inside, soft background music plays, and the overall vibe works equally well for a relaxed lunch or a romantic dinner by the water.
The menu blends Thai favourites with international staples. You’ll find rich curries (including massaman), Tom Kha soup, seafood and fish, lobster, crispy calamari, seafood pasta, steaks, burgers, pizza, and sharing sets for two. Presentation is attractive and ingredients are carefully chosen. Most dishes are genuinely tasty, though a few items — especially the pizza and some of the quicker, more casual options — can be hit or miss.
The bar is a standout. Cocktails taste great by the sea and arrive promptly; there are also non-alcoholic choices such as a virgin mojito, which pair nicely with fruit platters. Breakfast is another strong point, with good quality and satisfying portions.
Service is friendly and attentive, although it can slow down during peak hours, and some staff have limited English. Prices are in line with a hotel restaurant — closer to the higher end of mid-range — and rice-based dishes can feel a bit small. You can access the restaurant either from the beach or through the villa grounds; at times, hotel guests are given priority and reservations may get complicated. Special holiday dinners are noticeably more expensive than the regular menu.
