Tiger Cave Temple is located in the neighboring province of Krabi. The drive from Phuket takes approximately 3 hours🚗
The temple got its name from the tiger paw prints found on a stone inside the cave 🐅 According to legend, a monk named Ajahn Jumnean Silasetho came to the cave for meditation. During his stay, he saw tigers enter the cave to take shelter from the sun. However, none of the predators harmed him! The peaceful coexistence of the monk and the tigers became the foundation of the philosophy for the new monastery located near the temple.
But the temple’s fame isn’t only due to the tiger legend. Visiting this place is a true challenge for any tourist 🥊
1237 steps 😱 That’s the number you’ll need to climb to reach the top of the cliff. The incline is very steep, and each step is a test of endurance. Add in the sweltering heat and scorching sun, and the journey truly feels like a warrior’s path 💪🏻 Those who conquer it are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama at the summit 😍
Here are some tips if you decide to take on the climb:
🔸 Start early in the morning (entry opens at 6 AM) to avoid the intense sun.
🔸 Bring enough drinking water.
🔸 Avoid carrying food: monkeys along the way love to snatch snacks from tourists.
🔸 Wear comfortable shoes.
🔸 Pace yourself and choose a comfortable speed. Remember: the closer you get to the top, the steeper the steps become.
