Wat Ladthi Wanaram (Wat Tai) is a temple complex in Phuket, conveniently located on the route to the Big Buddha — about a 30-minute drive from Patong Beach. It’s a good place for an unhurried walk and a short stop: 1 to 1.5 hours is usually enough to see the main areas and visit a few halls.
The complex sits beside a pond with fountains, and the pathways are lined with numerous statues of animals and birds, which give the grounds a distinctive character and make the walk visually engaging. Inside, there are several temple buildings (around four in total), where architectural details and a calm, focused atmosphere stand out. On regular days it’s quiet and uncrowded, making it easy to slow down and take it all in; during holidays, the mood is livelier.
A special part of the visit is the interaction within the temple itself: visitors can receive a monk’s blessing, listen to brief guidance, and sometimes leave with a small amulet. Respectful behavior and sincere intent are important, and donations to support the monastery are appropriate.
On festival days, a night market takes over the grounds, with colorful lighting, a festive feel, and stalls selling food and clothing. The setting is especially striking during Loy Krathong, when the water, lights, and temple architecture come together into a memorable evening scene.
