Beaches Without Waves in Phuket’s Low Season

Rainy season has arrived in Phuket! But that doesn’t mean it’ll be pouring non-stop — there will still be sunny and dry days. However, catching calm seas on the island’s west coast becomes tricky this time of year. Luckily, we’ve got an ace up our sleeve: here’s a list of beaches where you can swim all year round.

Ao Yon🌴

The most popular beach for swimming in the low season. The water here is incredibly calm — almost like a lake. To get there, head to the Ao Yon sign, walk across a small bridge and along the rocks, or park your scooter near the Flamingo Beach Club.

Merlin Snorkel Beach🤿

Located on a cape in southern Patong, this beach belongs to the Marriott hotel, but entry is free for everyone. As the name suggests, it’s perfect for snorkeling. Just watch out for corals in the water — swimming shoes are recommended.

Coral and Banana Beach🏝

Postcard-perfect beaches that look like they’re straight out of an ad. Located on Koh Hey Island (not to be confused with the Banana Beach on Phuket itself). You can get there by boat from Rawai Beach.

Nai Yang🐢

A tranquil beach. Waves do sometimes appear here too, but they’re much gentler than at other beaches.

Tri Trang🌳

A secluded spot near Patong Beach. There are no hotels or dense infrastructure nearby, but you will find a few scenic cafes.

Hua Beach📸

A quiet beach near Kamala. You can reach it by car or scooter — just don’t miss the turn off the main road through the gate. Great nature and perfect for a photo shoot.

Paradise🍹

A beach not far from Patong with turquoise water and well-developed infrastructure. It features a pool, several restaurants, and fantastic beach parties. Entry is paid, and outside food or drinks are not allowed.

Important: All these beaches experience strong tides, so swimming is only possible during high tide. The rest of Phuket’s beaches can be found in the Beaches section on our website.
