Question

Where Can You See Monkeys in the Wild in Phuket?

Insider's Response

We agree — seeing monkeys in the tropics is much more exciting than in a zoo. There are several places on the island where the animals live freely, and tourists are just visitors.

The most popular spot is Monkey Hill in Phuket Town. A lesser-known location is the Monkey Parking area. You can also find them in Sirinat National Park, near the Big Buddha, and around Wat Chalong Temple. Outside Phuket, check out Monkey Beach on Phi Phi Island (yes, they have their own beach, where they are the true rulers). It’s usually a stop on guided tours.

There’s also a Gibbon Rehabilitation Center in Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, where the animals are rescued from poaching and live freely in natural conditions.
