Capybara Coffee Karon in Phuket is a small “café + hands-on mini petting zoo” where the true stars are capybaras and meerkats. It’s an easy place for both adults and kids to spend an hour or two: you can watch the animals up close and, with staff supervision, gently interact with them.
Besides capybaras and meerkats (including some very young ones), you’ll also find rabbits, white ducks, guinea pigs, turtles, parrots, and other small animals. The space is arranged so the animals have their own quiet areas to retreat to when they want a break, and the capybaras have access to a small pool. Overall, it feels tidy and well maintained, without that crowded, chaotic vibe.
The highlight of the visit is feeding and gentle hands-on contact. For 100 THB you can buy a bucket of feed, and the staff will explain what each animal can eat, help children participate safely, and answer questions. Interactions are calm and careful, with clear attention paid to the animals’ comfort.
As for pricing: entry is usually around 400 THB. Food buckets are extra, and drinks aren’t included — order them separately (their lemonades are a popular choice). The venue is quite compact, so the price may feel a bit higher than expected, and sometimes part of the visit involves staff-led animal introductions. For quieter photos and more active animals, it’s best to come in the morning.
