LAKU Beach Club in Phuket is located on Coconut Island at Barceló Coconut Island and is ideal for an unhurried day by the sea followed by dinner in the evening. The venue is beautifully designed, with comfortable seating, cozy corners, laid-back resort-style music, and an easy, relaxed social vibe. The terraces look out over the beach, and you can even enjoy cocktails while in the pool.
The food offering comes in several formats: multiple menu concepts (Mediterranean and Japanese), set menus, plus breakfast and dinner options. Presentation is neat and dishes are served hot. Highlights include grilled prawns, a wide selection of sushi, brioche with beef tartare, coconut ice cream, tapas, and mezze. For mains, the ribeye steak and slow-braised beef cheeks with sides are particularly well executed.
The bar is one of LAKU’s strongest points. Cocktails are bold in flavor — smooth, slightly sweet, and well balanced — with standout signature options such as The Med (made with a strawberry infusion) and Lemonata. Prices are pleasantly reasonable. The team is attentive and genuinely friendly, happy to recommend drinks and dishes, mindful of preferences and dietary restrictions, and great at marking special occasions — for example, surprising guests with a small birthday cake. They can also easily arrange comfortable seating and a setup that works well for groups.
At times, food can take longer than expected, and a few items (like the mezze) could use a more generous amount of bread; some hot dishes may come across a little dry. Overall, it’s a stylish spot for time by the water, sunsets, dinner, and cocktails on the island. Coconut Island is accessible via a free boat transfer.
