Ta Khai is a restaurant at Rosewood Phuket, tucked away by a quiet lagoon near Tri Trang Beach. The setting feels like a mini Thai village: wooden cottages, lantern-lit paths, lily-covered water, and a large, spreading tree canopy at the center. In the evening it becomes especially serene and intimate — ideal for anyone who values peace and an unhurried dinner.
The menu is built around Southern Thai cuisine, packed with vibrant herbs and spices. Seafood takes pride of place, and the fish is genuinely fresh — you can even choose it straight from the pond. There are set options and tasting menus (including an extended multi-course experience), and a plant-based menu is also available. Standout dishes include crab in yellow curry, a beef salad, tender beef cheek, and steamed sea bass. For dessert, mango sticky rice and pineapple ice cream are excellent choices. The bar program rounds out the meal with a house take on the Moscow Mule and a cocktail inspired by a Thai-style Old Fashioned.
Service is attentive and polished: guests are welcomed and guided through the garden to their table, and sometimes shown the open cooking areas and herb beds. A few things to keep in mind: prices are above average for Phuket, insects can be an issue outdoors in the evening, and lighting is fairly dim in parts. Booking ahead is recommended.
