The Mexican is a Mexican café-bar in Phuket’s Laguna / Boat Avenue area, designed as an open-plan space with a bold, colorful interior. It’s set up for unhurried evenings — comfortable seating, an easygoing bar vibe, and the feel of a small, lively local venue.

What really sets it apart is the live music. Most nights you’ll hear guitar and vocals, often covering well-known hits. The performances can be so intimate that guests can request songs right in the middle of the set. The sound is well balanced, so people come not only for food but to spend the whole evening there.

The menu leans heavily into Tex‑Mex: tacos (including thin tortillas with generous fillings), burritos, quesadillas, nachos, chili con carne, fries topped with meat and chili, grilled corn, and tortilla chips with guacamole. There are vegetarian options and lighter choices, and they can usually accommodate gluten-free requests. That said, consistency can vary: some dishes are tender and juicy, while others are milder and less punchy on spice. Sauces are sometimes served in small portions, and the guacamole isn’t always identical from one visit to the next.

The bar program is a highlight. Margaritas — classic and frozen, with flavors like passion fruit, mango, and strawberry — sit alongside sangria, beers such as Beer Lao IPA and Corona, tequila, and other spirits, with beer served in a chilled glass. Service is typically quick and friendly, though it’s worth double-checking the bill and confirming your chosen alcohol to avoid mix-ups. Cleanliness can occasionally be an issue in certain areas, so it’s best suited to guests who value atmosphere, live music, and cocktails just as much as the food.
