5 ideas of what to do in Phuket during bad weather

If you’ve arrived on the island outside of the season or have been caught by the rain during your vacation, don’t rush to get upset: Insider has picked 5 great ideas for what you can do in Phuket in bad weather.

1. Go to a spa or get a massage. Thailand is world-renowned for its spa industry. The treatments here are based on Ayurveda, the secrets of Thai medicine, and herbalism, and few do massages better than Thai professionals. Relax, recharge, and rejuvenate – all this can be achieved through spa treatments and massages. You can find the best spas and massage salons in Phuket in the Massage & SPA section.

2. Visit a museum or a gallery. It may be a surprise to you, but Phuket is not just a resort island. There are museums and art galleries here that are definitely worth a visit. Here are a few of them:

  • Historical Museum Phuket — a journey into the past and a great opportunity to learn more about the island’s history. The exhibits tell the story of the culture and life of the Thai region.
  • Phuket Aquarium – a place where visitors can see marine life in their natural habitat.
  • AR Trick Eye Museum Phuket (https://maps.app.goo.gl/aGTrmqpihQVSyDmQ9) — an amazing interactive museum of 3D illusions. Children will especially love it, although adults are rarely left indifferent.
  • Phuket Art Village — a real artists’ village on the island. Don’t forget to bring some cash – you can buy a favorite piece of art or even order a custom portrait.

3. Explore Thailand’s cultural heritage. The temples in Phuket are true works of art, as well as sacred places with incredible energy. Visit the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Wat Pra Thong, Wat Sri Sunthon, and other famous temples on the island.

4. Go shopping. The island has large shopping malls like Festival and Jungceylon, which feature numerous stores (including those no longer available in Russia), as well as cafes and restaurants.

5. Indulge in a gastronomic experience. Food is one of the main reasons many tourists come to Thailand. Fresh seafood, interesting sauces, exotic fruits – everything here is incredibly delicious. Phuket has many excellent restaurants, some of which have even been recommended by the Michelin guide. You can find the best ones in the Cafes & Restaurants section.
