Happy Jack GASTROBAR in Rawai, Phuket is an intimate gastropub with a warm, homey feel. Thoughtful lighting, soft background music, and a clean, understated interior make the dining room comfortable for conversation. The staff are genuinely friendly, and the owner, Peter, often greets guests personally. Everything is kept spotless — including the restroom.
The kitchen is all about meat. Right by the entrance you’ll find a display of large cuts, so you can choose your steak on the spot. The main focus is steaks and Big Green Egg BBQ: ribeye, tomahawk, lamb, pork chops, and smoked items are consistently juicy and cooked to the right doneness. The menu also features beef carpaccio, duck, Belgian meatballs, burgers (including wagyu with truffle sauce), wings, and a few Thai dishes such as pad krapao.
The bar program is a strong point: well-chilled draft beer (sometimes served in a frosted glass), Belgian options, cocktails, and a solid selection of spirits — perfect even if you’re just stopping by for an evening drink. For enthusiasts, there’s a cigar room/collection and classic “cigar + whisky” pairings. Wine is available, though wine lovers may want to choose carefully. Corkage for your own bottle is 300 THB.
A few things to note: the venue opens later in the day, and food can take longer during peak hours. Scooter parking is easy right at the entrance, while car parking is usually along the street.
