This place is located in Krabi province and is definitely worth a visit if you will be vacationing in Ao Nang resort.
First things first. You can only get here by boat – we buy a longtail ticket at Ao Nang beach and head to the neighboring Railay beach. We cross over to the opposite eastern beach. We reach its southernmost part and then we see a walking trail along the cliff, where hang bizarre stalactites of the most unusual shapes.
The trail itself is entertaining, but in the end there will be also very beautiful and nice Phra Nang beach. There is a Princess Cave on this beach, which is a local shrine and is filled with wooden figurines of the male genitalia.
There are several legends of the origin of the shrine, but the plot is the same – when Princess Phra Nang dies, her spirit settles in the cave forever and now wants offerings in form of the same figures we mentioned above. The locals consider the cave a symbol of fertility and come here to ask for a good catch, while girls ask for a successful marriage and a long-awaited pregnancy.
If you walk south of the cave through a narrow gorge, you will come to an unusual place – Toblerone Bay. Here you can go snorkeling or rock climbing. Apparently, the place got its name thanks to the bizarre triangular rocks sticking out of the water and resembling slices of the eponymous chocolate bar.
Keep our itinerary, it is simple enough for any tourist, but in this area there are also places for more skilled people.
