Wave-free beaches in low season

Phuket has summer all year round. The air and water temperatures are always about the same, but seasonality is pronounced. From May to October on the island is very rainy and windy, so many beaches are periodically closed for swimming due to large waves. But Insider knows the secret beaches, where even in the low season there are no waves, and is happy to share these locations.

Beaches on Cape Panwa, especially Ao Yon

Cape Panwa is located on the east coast. The sea here is calm, turquoise-colored, fine sand and coconut palms, and there are many cafes, restaurants and hotels.

Ao Yon

Ao Yon beach is divided by a small rocky ledge into two unequal parts, the most beautiful is the larger one. To get there, you need to drive to the sign Ao Yon, there is also a large parking lot. Then go over the bridge and along the rocks. You can also get to the beach by parking at the pearl farm, and there is a parking lot for bikes near Flamingo Beach Club.

Merlin Snorkel Beach

It is located near Patong Beach and belongs to the Marriott Hotel, but entry is free for everyone. The beach is beautiful and as the name suggests, great for snorkeling. However, there is a lot of coral in the water, so it is recommended to swim in special shoes.

Coral Beach

A benchmark beach, just like from that very advertisement. The beach is located on Koh Hey Island, 20 minutes from the southern point of Phuket – Rawai Beach. To get here, you need to rent a boat. It is better to enter the sea to the right of the black rock, or better yet, directly from the boat. There is a spot with snorkeling equipment on the beach.

Naiyang

Beautiful, peaceful beach with white sand. Sometimes there can be waves here too, but they are much smaller than on other beaches. The calmest sea is in the southern part.

Tri Trang

The secluded beach is located near Patong Beach. There are no hotels or cluttered infrastructure nearby, but there are a few view cafes.

Hua Beach

Geo on Google Maps

The quiet and secluded beach is located next to the famous Kamala Beach. It can be reached by car or bike, the main thing is not to miss the turn off the highway through the gate.

It’s also a great place for a photo shoot – there are plenty of tropical trees that create natural shade and cliffs on either side.

Paradise

Another beach near Patong. It has perfect turquoise water in the sea, as well as a gorgeous pool and sun loungers. The infrastructure of the beach is well thought out: there are changing rooms, toilets and showers.

There are also several restaurants and stores on the beach, and there are fantastic beach parties, like on Phangan. There is a fee to enter, and you are not allowed to bring your own food and drinks.

Please note that all the beaches listed above have high tides and you can only swim at low tide.

Be sure to check the tide schedule – there are special apps for this purpose, for example, “Tides”.
